Shopify store migration services
Scaling Socials migrates D2C stores to Shopify from WooCommerce, Wix, Magento and others without losing SEO, URLs or order history. Losing rankings in a migration is avoidable, so we plan the redirect map and data transfer up front, which means you keep your traffic and gain Shopify. It is scoped to your catalogue and the platform you are moving from.
The redirect map is everything
Most migrations lose traffic for one reason: old URLs quietly start returning 404s, and the rankings and links pointing at them evaporate. Before anything moves, we map every indexed URL on your current store to its new Shopify equivalent with clean 301 redirects — products, collections, blog posts, and the stray high-traffic pages a crawl turns up. That map is built and checked against your analytics and Search Console first, so nothing with traffic falls through the gap.
What carries over, and what has to be rebuilt
Products, variants, collections, customers, order history and blog content all migrate across. What does not travel is platform-specific custom code — WooCommerce plugins, Magento extensions, bespoke checkout logic — which has to be rebuilt as a proper Shopify build or swapped for a Shopify-native equivalent. We tell you up front which of your features are which, so there are no surprises halfway through the project.
Planned for zero downtime, with a rollback
The part that makes migration feel risky is the cutover, so we take the risk out of it. The new store is built and tested on a staging domain, the DNS switch is scheduled for a low-traffic window, and your old store stays intact and reachable until the new one is verified live. If anything looks wrong, we roll back. You are never left with a broken storefront and no way back to the one that worked.
SEO preserved, not just hoped for
Beyond redirects, we carry over the things rankings depend on: page titles and meta descriptions, canonical tags, image alt text and structured data. We keep URL structures where it is sensible to, submit the new sitemap, and watch Search Console through the weeks after cutover so any indexation issue is caught while it is still small. A well-planned migration holds its rankings — and often speeds them up, because the new store is faster.
Your customers and order history come with you
A migration is not just the storefront. Customer accounts, order history and any loyalty or subscription data have to arrive intact, or your support, returns and repeat-purchase reporting break on day one. We migrate the data as carefully as the design, reconcile it against the old system, and confirm the numbers match before we call the job done.
The move is a chance to fix what kept breaking
If your store keeps breaking on WooCommerce or Magento, the maintenance and hosting burden is usually why. Shopify’s managed, fast baseline removes most of that overhead. We rebuild lean instead of porting the old theme’s problems across, so you land on a store that is quicker and calmer to run. If you are still weighing the platforms, our Shopify vs WooCommerce comparison lays out the trade honestly.
Questions founders ask
Will I lose SEO when migrating to Shopify?
Not with a planned migration. We build a complete redirect map from your old URLs to the new ones with proper 301s, and carry over titles, metadata and structured data, so rankings and link equity transfer across. Lost traffic in a migration is almost always avoidable.
Will my store go down during the migration?
No. We build and test the new store on a separate staging domain and only switch DNS once it is verified, in a low-traffic window. Your existing store stays live until the moment of cutover, and we can roll back if anything is wrong, so you are never stranded with a broken storefront.
Will my rankings drop after migrating?
They should not, with a complete redirect map and preserved metadata. There can be brief volatility while Google re-crawls the new URLs, but a planned migration holds its traffic — and because the new store is usually faster, rankings often recover and improve rather than fall.
What can you migrate from?
WooCommerce, Wix, Magento, custom builds and others. We move products, variants, customers and order history, and rebuild the theme on Shopify around conversion rather than just copying the old design across.
How long does a Shopify migration take?
It depends on your catalogue size and how much custom functionality has to be rebuilt. We scope it up front and give you a clear plan and timeline, including the cutover window, before we start anything.
